Are Traditional Treatments Right For You?
When discussing “traditional” acne treatments, we are talking about the typical ointments and medications you can find at your local drug store. Found as creams and gels, standard cures for acne are cheap, easy to find, and great for basic, mild acne symptoms. If you are having problems and have tried drugstore variety cures before, you may need to see a dermatologist for a stronger, prescription based acne medication.
Standard acne treatments are generally designed for the average teenager or adult with pimples and acne. How they usually work is they dry up the skin around the zits and prevent oils and dirt from clogging more pores. As the skin dies and heals again, the pores are allowed to breathe and in the end, results in acne clear skin. BUT, if you are experiencing acne due to a hormone imbalance or another internal cause, you may need to try a tougher or more radical treatment found through the doctor.
Acne Creams and Gels
Acne creams are key to treating most acne. You can get them everywhere and they range in price from a few dollars to $40 or more. Creams can be combined with many different treatments but for best results you should combine your acne cream with natural treatments like a diet/lifestyle change. Results for most acne creams are usually pretty fast (sometimes within a few hours) and depending on the one you choose, can leave your skin feeling good and looking beautiful.
